This nutritious and simple loaded guacamole is the perfect side dish, whether you're serving it alongside nachos at a house party or preparing a tasty burrito bowl.

Guacamole is a classic Mexican side dish with an avocado base. All you really need to make an avocado dip is avocado and salt. Take the insides of a ripe avocado, add some salt, and mash until the avocado innards become creamy. Simple, right?
However, many variations of this recipe have been created over time. While the avocado remains the focus, people have gotten creative adding all sorts of spices and other ingredients.
For this recipe, we'll be adding some red onion to add some flavour & texture to the guacamole, and make it even more nutritious. We'll also be adding some pleasant herbs (cilantro and basil flakes) to give it some extra pizzazz. Then we'll continue to round out the flavors by adding a little tartness with lime juice and spiciness with a jalapeño pepper.
Loaded with all these plants and flavors, this loaded guacamole is gonna be one of your go-to side dishes.
How to Make Simple Loaded Guacamole
First, make sure to prep all your ingredients for easy assembly. Dice ½ of a red onion. Seed and dice a jalapeño pepper. Also chop 1 bunch of cilantro into small pieces.
Slice open your avocados and scoop out the insides into a bowl. Mash them with the back of your spoon until they're completely mushy.

Add the diced ingredients (red onion, and jalapeño pepper) into the bowl. Also add 1 teaspoon of basil flakes, and ½ teaspoon of salt.
Mix the ingredients in the bowl well until combined. And that's it, you're done! I wasn't kidding when I said this recipe is "simple".
I personally love serving this guacamole with some nachos or adding it to a a homemade burrito bowl. But feel free to enjoy it however you'd like.
Tips
- Play around with the spiciness. This recipe includes 1 seeded jalapeño pepper to give it a little kick. However, if you like your guacamole spicier, feel free to leave the seeds in or add more peppers. Similarly, if you don't like spicy food at all, feel free to leave the jalapeño pepper out.
- Don't add tomato. I've tried adding tomato to this dish before. but because tomato is such a watery vegetable (or is it a fruit?), it causes liquid to pool at the bottom of the dish and which makes it unpleasant to work with.
